China
It is clear to me that conducting relations with China is in the interest of the United States. These would include commercial, cultural, and other relations. I support a close, friendly relationship with China. However, I do have expectations of China. These concern cooperation in East Asia, including Taiwan.
Crime
I support initiatives which will have an effect on crime reductions. Local agencies are best equipped to oversee such initiatives. Those involve community and faith-based organizations helping individuals to be law-abiding. I have a strong commitment to ensuring the constitutional right to counsel.
Civil Rights
I stand for the protection of individuals engaging in non-violent civil rights demonstrations.
Labor
I support engaging in international trade with trust in our values and our laborers.
Defense
I know what defense means to the future. I am for advanced defense agencies. There are both costs and benefits to analyze. Details matter to me.
Immigration
I am for the diversity which immigrants add to this nation. The treatment of immigrants, regardless of their status, is a priority for me. This applies to refugees and for asylum.
Peace
I recognize the role of the United States in the effort to bring an end to wars. I know how essential United States leadership can be in this effort. I commend efforts to assist all parties to a conflict in finding a permanent peace. I condemn war crimes and genocide.
Government Reform
It is my desire that the legislative process be honest and open. Honesty means full and complete debates. Openness means public disclosure. I am willing to work with others on a bipartisan basis.
Tax Reform
I have no interest in increasing taxes.
Values
I affirm shared values that transcend race, religion, gender, age, disability, region, income, and education.
