Master John R. Austino, Jr.
I was born in 1965 in Bridgeton, NJ, and began my karate training in 1982 under masters like my father, John Austino, Sr., Grandmaster Peter Urban and Hanshi Ric Pascetta. As a top competitor, I reached the 1986 AAU Olympic tryout finals, placing third in fighting, and later became a three-time U.M.A.R.A. League Black Belt Lightweight Champion. In 1989, I opened my first dojo, and in 2004, I was promoted to 7th Degree and awarded the title of Kyoshi. Alongside teaching and refereeing, I’ve served in law enforcement since 1993, developing defensive tactics programs, training over 500 officers, and completing SWAT and GRAPLE certification under Royce Gracie. Today, I remain dedicated to martial arts and law enforcement.
