I was working at an investment partnership in 2006 when we were approached by a leasing company outside of Chicago. They wanted us to partner with them on funding new FedEx owner operators. FedEx was starting a new division, Home Delivery, and they didn’t want to hire drivers. They wanted the drivers to be owner operators paid by FedEx by the mile. Our job was to buy the trucks and lease them to the owner operators. We did, putting about one hundred drivers into business.
Then the severe recession of 2008 started. Many drivers didn’t get the miles from FedEx that they had gotten before, so they fell behind on their lease payments. We had to repossess about 30% of the trucks and find the drivers all over the country.

I liked the hunting part of the business so when I left that partnership, I started collecting judgments for clients on my own. In 2009 I started Bloomingdale Road Judgement Recovery. Bloomingdale Road was what the part of Broadway I grew up on in Manhattan was called by the Dutch.
