My name is Scott Long, and I was born and raised in Houston County, graduating from Cottonwood High School. I am a U.S. veteran and retired Police Captain, having spent my career serving this community. Family has always been central to my life. I am the father of two and the grandfather of two grandchildren who will be attending Houston County Schools.<\/p>\n

With deep roots here, I care deeply about the future of our schools and the strength of our community, and I remain committed to giving back in meaningful ways.<\/p>\n

We have accomplished all of this in a short 5 years!<\/p>\n

We have equipped about 50% of our buses with A\/C and working towards 100%.<\/p>\n

New Gymnasium, Resurfaced Parking Lot, New Awnings, New Concession Stand, Softball Field Improvements, and New Softball and Baseball Press Box.<\/p>\n

New Press Box, New Field House, Additions to the Kindergarten Building, New High School Wing, New Special Needs Addition, New Concession Stand, New Softball Field, and Breaking Ground on a New Gymnasium.<\/p>\n

New Middle School Wing, Eliminated all Portable Buildings, Replaced Lighting at the Baseball Field.<\/p>\n

Houston County Schools were recently recognized as the Highest Academic Achieving County School System in the State of Alabama by both the State Superintendent and State Board of Education.<\/p>\n

Houston County Schools have the highest ACAP scores of any county system. We are 1st in math, 4th in ELA, and 10th in Science, out of 67 county systems.<\/p>\n\t
