Ken Nysmith
Head of School
I'm Ken Nysmith, Head of School at The Nysmith School in Herndon, Virginia. Since 1983, when my mother founded the school, we've been family-owned and dedicated to providing a joyful, world-class education for students from ages 3 through 8th grade. Our renowned STEM program, alongside a diverse curriculum including reading, math, science, and foreign languages, is taught with a 1:9 teacher-to-student ratio. In 2015, Johns Hopkins recognized us as one of the Top 10 Schools in the World, and our students consistently score in the top 1% on IOWA standardized tests.
Having served in many roles here since 1985, from bus driver to accountant and now Head of School since 2005, I remain committed to ensuring our mission is upheld for every student who joins our community.
