We are The Movement, inspired by two ideas: the literal movement in dance and the collective movement toward a new approach in the dance world. With over 30 years of experience, we’ve observed that today’s dancers are incredibly skilled, thanks to years of focus on technique and tricks. While this has pushed the boundaries of dance, we believe it’s time to explore a new area: "Quality of Movement." This means focusing on the emotion, intention, and connection behind the movement—not just the technique.
At The Movement, we emphasize both technique and the deeper aspects of performance, incorporating “quality of movement” into our critiques. Our approach to judging is unique, viewing each performance as a “Mini Master Critique” to help dancers grow in their craft. Additionally, "movement" also refers to a collective effort for change. We believe it’s time for a renaissance in the arts, where dancers’ creativity and impact can be fully realized. Join us this competition season to be a part of this change!
